The Syracuse Area Salvation Army Office has an exciting career opportunity in our Child Welfare Department for a case planner to provide social work services to families whose children are at-risk for abuse or neglect.
The Preventive Services Program is a partnership between The Salvation Army and the Onondaga County Department of Social Services. The program provides high quality home based case management services to families with children experiencing challenges that may lead to safety risks. The Protective Factors from the evidence-based Strengthening Families Model are used to guide case planning, case coordination and counseling services.
The goal of the service is to prevent foster care placements by offering support services that allow parents to safely care for their children at home. Responsibilities include engaging mandated clients, comprehensive assessments, conducting home visits, developing intervention strategies, and coordinating services with other service providers.
Successful applicant will possess:
Cultural competence and ability to work with a diverse population- detail oriented with strong customer service and computer skills.
BSW or BA/BS/ in human services with 5 years experience or MSW/MA/MS with two years experience. Experience in Child welfare strongly preferred.
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills required. Must be computer literate
Valid driver’s license and vehicle required. Ability to navigate all forms of domiciles.*
