Principal Function: Assist the Special Events & Volunteer Coordinator with all aspects of the Kroc Center programs. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist the Special Events and Volunteer Coordinator in: 1. Volunteer Development a. Provide orientations for volunteers consult and refer all volunteer requests to the appropriate department. b. Organizing and implementing the annual Volunteer Recognition Event c. Develop and maintenance of Volunteer Database d. Coordinating departmental needs for volunteer duties. e. Perform any other duties as requested. f. Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteers for all Kroc Center Holiday programs, as appropriate. 2. Christmas Adopt-a-Family a) Soliciting new corporate and individual sponsors as advised. b) Receiving all requests from corporations, companies and individuals c) Matching families with sponsors. d) Matching families and schedule delivery and pick up. e) Correspondence with sponsors/volunteers. Christmas Mini Castle: a) Coordinating set up and take down of Castle b) Assist in Christmas Castle, as needed. 3. Other: a) Help in organizing and planning special events and birthday parties b) Providing reports as requested c) Assists with tasks related to departmental events including, but not limited to, data entry, creation and distribution of event invitations, shipping/transport of event related supplies, placing orders for event equipment and supplies from vendors, check-in of guests at events, handling guest reservations, event record keeping, and other tasks as assigned. d) Office work includes but is not limited to answering and returning phone calls, follow-up with inquiries, computer data entry, scanning and assistance with correspondence and event files. e) Assist the Marketing and Memberships Department in preparation and coordination for community events, meetings, fundraisers and member related functions. f) Assist with mailings for events, special promotions, letters, and “Thank You” acknowledgements to past renters. g) Research special projects as requested. h) Attend community outreach events and related events and fulfill assigned responsibilities as requested i) Conduct follow-up surveys of past reservations and research event trends. j) Attend meetings as required and take minutes k) Database and mailing list maintenance. l) Represent The Salvation Army’s spiritual ministry and social mission in the community at large.


Education Requirements: High School Degree required; Associates or Bachelor’s Degree Preferred Work Experience: Minimum two years of progressive experience in volunteer development training/coordination. Experience in public relations, communication, or marketing is a benefit. Other Qualifications: a. Energetic, organized, individual with excellent people skills b. Experience in working with groups c. Interpersonal writing and verbal communication skills d. Computer literate MISCELLANEOUS: Flexibility and a cooperative spirit are crucial characteristics of the individual who holds this important position.
