Responsibilities:




  • Provides concrete guidance, direction and supportive assistance to head of household to complete the application process to obtain housing.

  • Follow up on pending applications.

  • Accompanies families to interviews when necessary and/or appropriate by use of agency van or other appropriate means of transportation.

  • Develops potential housing resources with city agencies, housing developers, Realtors, etc.

  • Provides the housing orientation program for all newly admitted clients.

  • Meets with all clients to assess the following

    • a) Clients housing readiness abilities and skills.

    • b) Client’s motivation to obtain permanent housing.

    • c) Client’s difficulties coping with the housing search, etc.

    • d) Client’s resistance to obtaining housing.

    • e) Client’s inability and/or refusal to obtain housing.



  • Provides daily drop in group for clients in efforts to assist clients with #6 above, to assist clients to learn how to help each other with all housing concerns, and to provide up date information on current housing trends, etc.

  • Participates in all training programs on-site to facilitate services provided to clients.

  • Participates in Social Services meetings.

  • Participates in all required hearings.

  • Maintains up-to-date record keeping, statistics, and documents clients progress and/or lack of progress, etc. in client’s chart.

  • Establishes group-training program to maximize client’s abilities to obtain housing.


Requirements:

Qualifications:




  • B.S.W., BA/BS degree from an accredited college.

  • Experience in working with clients who have lived in residential programs or, experience in working with a difficult to manage client population.

  • Or, actively pursuing a college degree from an accredited school with experience in working with clients who have lived in residential programs, or experience in working with a difficult to manage client population.

  • Continued employment is contingent on active pursuit and enrollment in college towards obtaining BA/BS/BSW degree.

  • Has respect and consideration for the people being served
