The Human Services department is seeking a temporary full time Disaster Case Manager to work with individuals and families in Hazlet and Monmouth County who are recovering from Hurricane Sandy and serve as a primary point of contact for clients. The Case Manager will assist the client in coordinating necessary services and resources to address the clients' complex disaster recovery needs in order to re-establish normalcy, while relying on the client to play an active role in his/her process. Duties and Responsibilities for the position include making appointments for individuals, interviewing and obtaining all required information from individuals affected by Hurricane Sandy, utilizing knowledge of the resources available at all levels of government and local community resources to make appropriate referrals, performing individual needs assessment, developing statistical and service reports as requested, assessing need to tangible assistance, preparing cases for presentation to unmet needs table, representing The Salvation Army at Long Term Recovery Groups and related committees as requested by the Case Management Supervisor, and other disaster related duties as requested and deemed appropriate by supervisor.


The ideal candidate for this position will have a Bachelor's Degree or experience working in Social Services with knowledge of local resources. The Disaster Case Manager should have experience working in disaster recovery, demonstrated sensitivity to issues related to poverty, and unquestioned confidentiality in all areas. Flexible working hours (including some night and/or weekend work), valid driver's license, computer proficiency, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills are also requirements for this position.
