Principal Functions



Program Assistants will be assigned according to need of various program functions in the education, arts, recreation & fitness department, the Bridging the Gap programs and the Corps.



Duties and Responsibilities




  1. Maintain all public and restricted areas in a neat and clean fashion

  2. Maintain activities on schedule

  3. Ensure participant safety

  4. Supervise children along with  other team members in Kids FEAST, Kidspace and other children’s  programming

  5. Supervise a variety of program areas including but not limited to: classrooms, art room computer lab, teen center, gymnasium, rock wall, fitness center, athletic field.

  6. Must possess or be willing to acquire exercise equipment knowledge.  Must be able to express his or her knowledge on the form and function of each piece of equipment and can demonstrate its proper use.

  7. Work in a cooperative manner with coworkers.

  8. Attend all scheduled staff meetings as required.

  9. Generate legible and accurate accident and incident reports as required

  10. Maintain an orderly environment for the children by recognizing and correcting breaches to behavior expectations and program policies and procedures.

  11. Ensure a safe, enjoyable and professional operation by supporting and enforcing the rules and regulations of the RJKCCC.

  12. Assist with program supply preparation, including arts and crafts, recreation equipment, etc.

  13. Assist with meal service and/or serve as table mentor during meals.

  14. Assist children with self-care activities as required.

  15. Supervise children while using safety measures.

  16. Participate in games and activities in an appropriate manner.

  17. Provide excellent customer service in all situations.

  18. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.

  19. Perform other duties as assigned and more appropriately defined in the operations manual.



 


Requirements:

 Work Experience



    Experience working in a fast-paced community and/or youth development program           preferred



Other Qualifications




  • Have ability to work with members, consisting of individuals with varying ages, experience, competency and cultural backgrounds.

  • Have adequate computer skills and competency with software such as Microsoft Office Applications and/or appropriate desktop applications and hardware such as computers and printers.

  • Must have the ability to work and relate well with people.

  • Must have or be willing to acquire certification in CPR/AED/First Aid.

  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

  • Have a philosophy of education and child development, which is consistent with that of the Center and The Salvation Army.

  • Must be available to work various shifts corresponding to center hours of operation

  • Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.
