To assist the Corps Officer(s) in the area of youth and music ministries in the corps, including but not limited to: ongoing Salvation Army Outreach, Jr. Soldiers, Corps Cadets, Sunday School and various music and arts ministries. This individual will desire to come alongside current corps leadership, train, encourage and develop additional leaders and lead in vacant ministries. It is vital that this position be filled with a musically gifted individual who will play piano or guitar for Sunday Worship, lead a small worship band and teach and train up youth and adults in music ministry.


  • Must have musical ability in Brass Band, theory, Songsters, Singing Company and Piano – and be able to teach basic music

  • Must have a desire to win the lost and train up both youth and adults to be godly, productive leaders in The Salvation Army

  • Support, promote, and teach The Salvation Army mission and doctrine as outlined in the Soldier’s Covenant

  • Assist and participate faithfully in Army events in the corps, region and division and broader as determined

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of youth and young adult ministries, including ongoing programming and special events and offering mentoring and spiritual guidance with a goal of bringing people into the corps worship programs

  • Recruit and train volunteers within the Corps and community to provide leadership in programs and activities

  • Assist Corps Officer(s) in growing and developing all programs and keeping of statistical information

  • Share in driving responsibilities for all programs

  • Encourage participation in divisional music and arts programs

  • Attend all training sessions requested by Corps Officer(s)

  • Assist in supervising and assisting volunteers

  • Any other task as designated by the Corps Officer(s) that would be beneficial to the continued development and growth of the Manhattan Citadel Corps




  • Must be a uniformed Salvationist with an up to date testimony of God’s presence in his/her life

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Must have basic office skills including use of computer

  • Possess a valid NY drivers’ license in good standing & able to pass MVR online driving test to drive the 12 passenger van

  • Degree in youth ministries or some college education in Christian Education is preferred

  • Prior Youth/and/or Music Ministry preferred

  • Knowledge of the Holy Bible (Scripture) and willing to learn/implement The Salvation Army doctrines

  • Strong communication skills

  • Self-motivated, well-organized and able to prioritize responsibility

  • A sincere love for God and dedication for the ministry and mission of The Salvation Army
