Responsibilities:




  • Performs Housekeeping chores as assigned.

  • Bathroom/cleaning: sinks showers, and toilet.

  • Kitchen/serving area cleaning; sinks and counters, all appliances, serving utensils and serving equipment, including the steam table and cart.

  • Bag trash after meals, wash-off tables, sweeping and mopping floors.

  • Hallway sweeping, dusting and mopping.

  • Cleaning entrance of building; hose sidewalk and entrance when required.

  • Remove ice and snow when required, remove garbage debris to proper areas.

  • Serve meals to residents on the respective shifts, which he/she is working.

  • Distribute clothing to residents, remove/stock housekeeping supplies.

  • Attend training classes on training procedures, including building evacuations, first aid, and other classes scheduled by the management as requested.

  • Work to promote harmony among residents as well as staff and gain knowledge of all aspects of the program.

  • Demonstrates reliability when on-call.

  • Available to work overtime when necessary (Only non-Exempt employees).

  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in organization of workflow.

  • Able to perform duties independently, with minimal need of direct supervision.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of clients, shelter/program, agency and or The Salvation Army

  • Demonstrates the ability to interact in a positive and helpful manner with clients, visitors, contract staff, volunteers and co-workers.

  • Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude at the work place and towards job.

  • Projects a good image in dealing with the public and clients.

  • Is willing to make an extra effort to help build a quality and caring shelter/program.

Qualifications:




  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Respect and Consideration for the needs of homeless Adults
