Responsibilities:




  • General maintenance of all Salvation Army property including parking lot area, general building upkeep, especially chapel, bathrooms, hallways, lobbies, etc.

  • Receiving of all deliveries and ensuring that they are securely packed and covered in storage rooms.

  • Keep proper inventory of maintenance supplies

  • After packing away delivered items in pantry and storage area, make sure that all spills are swept and mopped.

  • Perform minor repairs such as ceiling tile changing, stopping of leaks, replace baseboards where required, etc.

  • Clean and maintain front and sides of building - keep these areas clean at all times.

  • Ordering of maintenance supplies given in writing to the Corps Officer for approval.

  • Senior’s Room – Empty, wash and disinfect garbage bins, sweep & mop floor; maintain sink; wipe down tables and chairs

  • Outside of Building – Sweep, etc. and keep clear of litter and trash, glass, etc. Remove snow and ice, when necessary.

  • Garbage – remove all garbage from the building, neatly stack in assigned location in courtyard; the evening before garbage is picked up place garbage on Cornelia Street sidewalk.

  • Other – Wash and disinfect all bathrooms (bowls, basins, floors, fixtures); sweep halls, gymnasium, etc. Empty and return waste baskets; wash slop sink; replace light bulbs when necessary. Check all doors and windows. Dust around and in all aforementioned areas. Vacuum computer room and offices daily.

  • Mop floors of hallways, Senior’s Room, etc. Move furniture as necessary. Change water frequently when mopping floors. Reset rooms as necessary.

  • Chapel (Monday & Friday) – Vacuum Carpet, dust chairs, altar, piano, etc.(use polish as needed); Arrange books and bookshelves neatly.

  • Computer Lab: Vacuum Carpet, polish tables and keep furniture clean and in order.

  • Wash baseboards. Spot check and wipe walls; wash light domes or bulbs as needed. Wash and disinfect mop heads (hang to dry); clean utility rooms and closets; Wash Windows and blinds as needed (inside and out)

  • Every three months, strip and wax floors, alternate rooms to fit schedule.

  • Strip and wash Gym floor quarterly

  • Assist in the overall facilitation of The Salvation Army, as directed by the Corp’s Officer, particularly during the holiday season.

  • Wash and hose down courtyard garbage area as needed.

  • Supervise Maintenance volunteers throughout the year.


Requirements:

Qualifications:




  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

  • 5-10 years experience in building maintenance and handyman/odd jobs
