TITLE: PROGRAM ASSISTANT



POSITION AVAILABLE DATE: IMMEDIATELY



DEPARTMENT: CORPS



REPORTS TO: CORPS OFFICERS



SALARY GRADE: TBD STATUS: EXEMPT SCHEDULE: FULL TIME



DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:



♦ Assist the Corps Officers and local officers with Corps programs as assigned. This includes, but is not limited to: teaching a Sunday School Class, lead or assist with CrossTrainers/Corps Cadet program, youth group, bible studies, Men’s/Women’s fellowship programs, outreach/evangelism programs, League of Mercy, attending Youth Councils, etc.



♦ Assist in the processing of applications in order to send children to Camp Ladore:



♦ Assist the Corps Officers and local officers with special seasonal programs, such as various holiday food assistance programs (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.). This entails completing client applications, coordinating donations, distribution days, and coordinating the Angel Tree effort.



♦ Coordinate and assist with Corps transportation needs for general corps programs, church meetings, and for special events (Summer camp programs, Youth Councils, Family Camp, Soldier’s Retreat, etc.).



♦ Assist with meal preparation and clean-up for Corps programs and special corps dinners.



♦ Assist as needed for general, daily Corps support needs, such as errands of any kind, food bank operations (interviews/food orders/packing boxes as needed).



♦ Ensure that program areas and multi-use spaces are cleaned after program or activity is completed.



♦ Attend and participate in all Corps activities as requested by the Corps Officers, which will include active participation in Corps Council.



♦ Assist with special projects as assigned by the Corps Officers.



♦ Participate in the Christmas season kettle fundraising effort.



♦ Accepts training and education in all facets of local Corps work in order to be better prepared for future ministry leadership goals, including officership as appropriate.



♦ Performs related duties as assigned.


Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS:



♦ Must be an active Salvationist and be willing to transfer soldiership to the Wilkes Barre corps



♦ Two years of experience with Corps programs



♦ Must have a valid driver’s license



♦ Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army
