Description of Position:



The City Staff Accountant (CSA) is primarily responsible to manage all aspects of the Blackbaud system relative to all financial functions. The CSA is to give oversight to all accounting functions of the City of Philadelphia Corps including, but not limited to, Citadel, Korean, Central, Darby, Pioneer, Roxborough, Temple, West Philadelphia., Tabernacle and Norristown. The

CSA will give additional oversight to the accounting functions of the city

activities fund, special appeals fund and other miscellaneous programs within

the City. This position is expected to maintain all accounting functions including balance sheet analysis and review of all income, expense and journals to ensure accuracy prior to their posting. The individual will be responsible for the preparation of fiscal closing work papers and statements for various June 30 year-end closings as well as the September 30 closings for city activities and special appeals. The CSA will be responsible for various invoicing to governmental agencies. In addition, the position will assist in the

preparation of various analyses necessary for the divisional audit conducted by

auditors from Territorial Headquarters. Other duties, reports, analysis and accounting functions will be required for the continued efficient operation of the department.


Requirements:

MINIMUM EDUCATION , EXPERIENCE, OTHER REQUIREMENTS:



Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. At least four years of professional accounting experience. Non-profit accounting experience is a plus. Must have a thorough knowledge of accounting concepts. The individual must have good organizational skills along with good oral and written communication skills. Must be proficient in the use of computers with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Must have an appreciation for, and

understanding of, the Mission of The Salvation Army.
