Description of Position:                    The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for the long-term and day-to-day operation of the commercial kitchen and for ensuring the timely production of quality cuisine as demanded, and the overall management of the café, kitchen and banquet facilities at the RJKCCC.  Typical duties include, but are not limited to:  menu planning, pricing and inventory control; recruiting, hiring, scheduling and monitoring staff to assist with the operation of the kitchen, banquets, special events, vending and concession operation; maintain quality control in receiving and storage of inventory; provide culinary training on an ongoing basis to kitchen staff; work directly with the Guest Services Manager and Conference & Events Supervisor in the planning of weddings, corporate rentals/events and/or birthday parties; assist in the preparation of the annual budget and operating within those fiscal parameters; visually inspect all food products to be served to ensure they meet the quality standards; inspects to ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management and preventive maintenance plans are in continual use; research new products and develop menu trends and variety to satisfy member and guest interests in cuisine.  Performs related duties as assigned.



Requirements:                                     Associate’s degree (or equivalent) in culinary arts or related.  Minimum of 3-5 years working in a food preparation position.  Minimum of two years in management position in restaurant industry.  Committed to quality service, food and beverage knowledge.  Basic math skills.  Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills, problem solving capabilities, and the ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times while interacting with Kroc employees, guests, and the general public. Must be able to demonstrate a passionate desire to contribute to the ongoing development of innovative and excellent programs offered at the RJKCCC.  Demonstrates good judgment, resourcefulness, flexibility, attention to detail, and problem solving.  Possesses sensitivity and awareness of diverse cultural perspectives and the ability to work with diverse populations. Service-oriented team player who can take initiative, work independently and quickly adapt in a fast-paced environment. Accurate and precise handling of qualitative and quantitative data. Ability to work well with other employees, customers, and donors while maintaining the standards of The Salvation Army. Able to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work to meet pressing demands in order to meet deadlines. High attention to detail, consistent reliable follow through and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects, and meet established deadlines.  Must have significant training and/or experience in food service industry including: a)  Concession operation, b)  Catering planning and execution, c)  Restaurant management.  Able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment.  Must possess good Guest Relations skills.  Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs. Must have ability to work with, direct, and relate well with co-workers. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to carry out multiple tasks efficiently and accurately. Must have good verbal and written communication skills and be able to provide direction in a clear manner. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and have a familiarity with using general email applications. Able to work weekends/evening hours as needed, and must have willingness and ability to travel. Must have an understanding of, and appreciation for, the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Camden Kroc Center’s Core values.
