  • Help plan and assist Bridging the Gap Curriculum.

  • Offer input into lesson plans.

  • Review lesson plans.

  • Attend weekly staff meetings.

  • Attend at least one group per week as observer.

  • Discuss each participant’s progress with Director and interns.

  • Have participant’s addresses available.

  • Advocate for participants where necessary.

  • Be available to talk to participants.

  • Be knowledgeable about outside referral services.

  • Be able to handle and teach difficult teens at Bridging the Gap.

  • Be available to attend training sessions.

  • Coordinate with area colleges and graduate programs-recruit interns and volunteers.

  • “Represent The Salvation Army social mission in the Bridging the Gap program.”

  • “Refer persons with spiritual needs to The Salvation Army Officer who is an ordained minister of religion.”


Candidate must be at least 21 years of age and a college student, preferably a college graduate.

Candidate must have some experience in working in a young adult setting; working with disadvantage youth is a definite plus.
