Description:

The Divisional Human Services department is seeking a Southern Region Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) Coordinator to oversee EDS volunteers, training and response in South Jersey, specifically Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean and Salem counties. Duties and responsibilities include recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers responding to emergencies and disasters, overseeing EDS vehicle and equipment inspections and maintenance, preparing and submitting to Divisional Headquarters statistical and other reports (including purchasing documentation) as required, procuring, handling and maintaining EDS inventory, and maintaining all records pertaining to EDS volunteers and equipment. The Southern Region EDS Coordinator will act as State Liaison to the ROIC for drills/exercises and emergency evacuations, establish/support local VOADs and represent The Salvation Army at OEM, VOAD/COAD meetings in assigned counties. The Southern Region EDS Coordinator will collaborate with the Corps Officers and the Community Relations and Development Director to identify resources to support EDS programs and services within the region, develop and maintain a working list of local area vendors, maintain certifications and licenses as required, and ensure health and safety requirements and regulations are upheld. The Southern EDS Coordinator should support Divisional activities where needed and monitor all EDS response activities in assigned area.


Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or equivalent (some college preferred), have 3-5 years experience in management of disaster response operations, and be able to travel to state wide events. Must become certified as a trainer through The Salvation Army National Training Program within 90 days of employment. This job requires residency is one of the assigned counties (listed above) and availability to respond 24 hours.
