Principle Functions: The Recreation Attendant works as an attendant in the gymnasium, outdoor hard court, athletic field, and supply and track equipment for users as necessary. Keep score and/or referee during recreational sports league games. Ensure the safe use of the facilities by assisting patrons with the equipment. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Ensure the most enjoyable experience for all RJKCCC guests 2. Maintain all public and restricted areas in a neat and clean fashion 3. Generate legible and accurate accident and incident reports as required 4. Assist and direct Guests in moving about the facility to avoid crowded conditions and maximize service efficiency 5. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures. 6. Work in a cooperative manner with the other team members of the Recreation department. 7. Attend all scheduled staff meetings and management team meetings; 8. Will assist and work under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator. 9. Maintain cleanliness of facility by cleaning equipment and training areas, dusting, vacuuming and sweeping. 10. Enforce food and beverage consumption rules within gymnasium, outdoor hard court and athletic field areas. 11. Circulate regularly throughout assigned areas including the gymnasium, outdoor hard court and athletic field, insuring proper usage by patrons. 12. Ensure the safe use of the facility by enforcement of facility regulations and insuring that authorized patrons use the facility. 13. Provide information and answer questions about available programs. 14. Report all equipment and gymnasium/field area problems to the Recreation Coordinator. Will notify members and staff when equipment is out of working order or in need of repair. 15. Enforce all rules that pertain to the Recreation areas and facility on a constant basis. 16. Work with volunteers on a professional level. 17. Work as a score keeper and/or referee during recreational league games under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator. 18. Assist in any emergencies or accidents in a calm and professional manner. 19. Handle disputes with participants and students in a professional manner. 20. Maintain a safe working environment; Report all harmful problems with facilities to the Recreation Coordinator or proper supervisor. 21. Ensure customer service standards are met 22. Report areas for quality improvement that arise to Recreation & Fitness Coordinator or in his/her absence the Manager on Duty for direct follow-up. 23. Develop systems that safeguard any and all facilities, supplies and equipment related the Recreation Program of the RJKCCC. 24. Report all injuries in a timely manner and according to procedure. 25. Must attend and complete child safety training as facilitated by the Salvation Army. 26. Perform other duties as assigned and more appropriately defined in the operations manual. 27. Education Requirements: Two years of college preferred in a field related to leisure studies, parks and recreation or physical education. Work Experience: Must have one to three years of progressive leadership experience in athletics, camp, recreation and/or fitness field. Other Qualifications: • Must have gymnasium equipment knowledge. One or more years experience in a public exercise facility. • Must have the ability to confidently speak to groups of up to 50 people consisting of individuals with varying age, experience, competency and cultural backgrounds.. • Computer skills with Microsoft Office and similar applications are preferred. • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. • Must have ability to work and relate well with people. • Must have or be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within first 30 days of employment. • Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs. • Must be in good physical and mental health, capable of meeting the demands of the gymnasium and athletic field programs. • Have a Philosophy of education and child development, which is consistent with that of the Center and The Salvation Army. • Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving.
